The Laboratory was founded in 1999 by Prof. Giuseppe Silva in the old site of Lecco Campus Laboratories placed in C.so Promessi Sposi, 29. The first name of the Laboratory was SIMET (“Sezioni Indagini METallurgiche”).
In the 2014 the Laboratory moved to the Lecco Campus new site placed in Via Previati 1/c, with the new name.
From 2017 February, 27 the Laboratory is named after to Prof. Giuseppe Silva.
